Research Collaborations to Deliver Improved Climate Projections

Through European projects, such as, CRESCENDO, ESM2025, OptimESM, and TipESM, UKESM collaborates with other Earth System Model teams and Integrated Assessment Models to improve process representation and deliver more reliable climate projections. These projects are driven by scientific ambition with an aim to deliver knowledge and solutions to put Europe and the world on a more sustainable path.

Through UKRI (NERC) national capability funding project, TerraFIRMA, a partnership of 8 research centres in collaboration with the Met Office will develop novel future projections using UKESM, investigate the risks and impacts associated with overshooting key global warming targets and the reversibility of any triggered changes and impacts.
